About the program... The Bay Area Food Bank’s newest program, the mobile pantry, distributes thousands of pounds of food to convenient locations throughout our service area. With a grant from the Walmart State Giving Program in Alabama, the food bank purchased a refrigerated trailer to deliver canned goods and fresh food items to agencies who are unable to travel to the food bank to shop for food. This allows agencies to hand out large amounts of food in one day without having to store it at their location. Agencies can use the mobile pantry to reach more people in need in their community.
How agencies can sign up... All member agencies can sign up to host a distribution by calling the mobile pantry coordinator at the Bay Area Food Bank. For each mobile pantry distribution, the food bank will provide about 5,000 pounds of a variety of grocery products such as canned goods, fresh produce, bread, pastry and frozen meat. The mobile pantry coordinator will work with the agency to determine the cost of the distribution. For more information or to sponsor a mobile pantry distribution, contact the Bay Area Food Bank’s mobile pantry program coordinator, Jennifer Whiddon at (251) 653-1617. ![]() |
