Senior Nutrition

The Senior Nutrition Program began as a pilot program in 2007 to help senior citizens, 60 and older, in a specific income range, who are in need of food assistance.  The program started with 40 seniors and has grown to the Food Bank presently serving 200 seniors each month.

The goal of the program is to provide cost-effective distribution of appropriate food to seniors and older disabled citizens while educating them on available assistance and healthy eating.

Each month, a senior receives over $80 worth of food and grocery items, boxed and delivered to them.  Volunteer groups come together each month to help assemble the boxes.

For more information on the Senior Nutrition Program, contact our Senior Nutrition Coordinator at 251-653-1617.

Volunteer distributes bag full of senior friendly food such as cereal and fresh fruit to one of 200 seniors!

Young girls help pack the senior nutrition boxes.
