Disaster Relief Program
The Bay Area Food Bank, in addition to being a hunger-relief organization, is also a disaster relief organization.  We are prepared for emergencies here at our facility with back up generators, an industrial-sized kitchen, shower stations and of course food!

We also work with the Red Cross to provide assistance to all who need it.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005, volunteers and staff at the Bay Area Food Bank were extremely busy doing disaster relief.

Anytime a disaster strikes in our service area, we receive truckloads of food and supplies from Feeding America, as well as other corporations, and we work as quickly as we can to get those supplies out into the affected communities as quickly as possible.

If we are currently in disaster relief mode, you can check the Current Disaster Relief Updates below for daily reports on our disaster relief activities.  If you would like to read our reports on past disaster relief activities (including Hurricane Katrina), please check the Disaster Relief Archives section.
