The food bank uses many different resources to assess the hunger need in the 24-county service area. All of which indicate that the Central Gulf Coast possesses some of the highest food insecurity (or food hardship) levels in the country with 1 in 6 individuals struggling to find adequate nourishment.

Food Hardship in America is the annual report of the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC).

Hunger in America is a quadrennial study of all food banks and associated clients that seeks to obtain a snapshot of the state of hunger in the US.
